Government reminds residents to monitor the situation in Israel and exercise caution
*********************************************************

In response to media enquiries, a Government spokesman today (November 19) said that the Security Bureau has been closely monitoring the development of the situation in Israel. Relevant information has been uploaded to the website of the Security Bureau.

Residents should avoid all travel to Gaza and nearby areas in view of ongoing military exchanges. As the circumstances may change rapidly, those intending to visit the country or are already there should closely monitor the situation, exercise caution, attend to personal safety, avoid protests and large gatherings of people, and monitor local announcements on the latest situation.

The Amber Outbound Travel Alert for Israel remains in force. The Security Bureau will continue to closely monitor developments and issue updates through the media and the Outbound Travel Alert webpage (www.sb.gov.hk/eng/ota).

Hong Kong residents in Israel who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit (AHU) of the Immigration Department on (852)1868 or contact the Consular Section of the Chinese Embassy in Israel using the 24-hour duty phone line: (972) 52-8391282.

In addition, Hong Kong residents are encouraged to use the on-line Registration of Outbound Travel Information (ROTI) service (www.gov.hk/roti) to register their contact details and itinerary before travelling outside Hong Kong. The information provided allows the AHU of the Hong Kong Immigration Department to contact and assist them in an emergency outside Hong Kong.
