Students' Study Rooms available at Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai and Lam Tin Public Libraries

     The Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Public Library and Lam Tin Public Library, which will be in full operation next year, will open their Students' Study Rooms on November 19 and 30 respectively for local students to study in a quiet and relaxing environment.

     Located on the first floor at High Block, Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Leisure and Cultural Building, No 1 Tsui Sing Road, Tin Shui Wai, the Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Public Library Students' Study Room offers 228 seats. With a floor area of 6,100 square metres, the library is the second largest public library in Hong Kong. The open space atrium, cross-floor courtyard and surrounding curtain wall design allow sunlight into the library for readers to enjoy reading in natural daylight, whether indoors or outdoors. The library will open in late February next year.

     Located on the fifth floor at Lam Tin Complex, 1 Hing Tin Street, Lam Tin, the Lam Tin Public Library Students' Study Room provides 201 seats. Covering a floor area of 2,900 square metres, the new Lam Tin District Public Library will open in the first quarter of next year, offering a more convenient and comprehensive service for the public in the area.

     The opening hours of Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Public Library and Lam Tin Public Library Students' Study Rooms are as follows:

Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Public Library Students' Study Room - non-examination period (January to February and June to December)

Monday to Wednesday and Friday     9am-10pm
Thursday                           noon-10pm
Saturday                           9am-8pm
Sunday and Public Holidays         9am-5pm

Lam Tin Public Library Students' Study Room - non-examination period (January to February and June to December)

Monday                             noon-10pm
Tuesday to Friday                  9am-10pm
Saturday                           9am-8pm
Sunday and Public Holidays         9am-5pm

Arrangements for the two Students' Study Rooms during examination period (March to May)

First session          8am-12.30pm
Second session         12.45pm-5.15pm
Third session          5.30pm-10pm
                       (Monday to Friday)
                       5.30pm-9.30pm
                       (Saturday, Sunday and
                       Public Holidays)

     Students intending to use the Students' Study Rooms during the examination period must apply for admission cards. Details will be announced later.

     All libraries will be closed on the following public holidays: New Year's Day, the first, second and third days of the Chinese New Year, Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Also, all libraries will close at 5pm on the following days: New Year's Eve, Chinese New Year's Eve, Mid-Autumn Festival and Christmas Eve.

     Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Public Library and Lam Tin Public Library Students' Study Rooms are close to residential areas and easily accessible by public transport. Members of the public can reach the Students' Study Rooms by following means of transport:
