Fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen this morning (November 15) in which a 75-year-old woman was killed.

     About 5.30am, a taxi driven by a 42-year-old man was travelling along Ap Lei Chau Bridge Road towards South Horizons. When approaching near Lei Tung Estate, it reportedly knocked down the 75-year-old woman who was pushing a cart along the road in the same direction.

     Sustaining serious injuries to her arms and legs, the woman was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital in unconscious state and was later certified dead at 6.09am.

     The taxi driver was arrested for careless driving and is being detained pending further enquiries.
     
     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are proceeding.
