Anti-illegal road racing operation

     Police conducted a territory-wide operation on November 3 and 10 to combat illegal road racing activities.

     During the operation, Police arrested one person for dangerous driving as well as another person for dangerous driving, taking conveyance without authority, driving without a licence and driving without third party insurance respectively. Sixteen vehicles were detained for examination. Nineteen summonses and 550 Fixed Penalty Tickets were issued for various traffic offences.

     Police also breath-tested 1217 drivers during the operation. Among them, nine drivers were unable to pass the screening breath tests and were arrested. Five of them were found to have proportions of alcohol in their breath exceeded the prescribed limit and would be charged with the offence.

     Police remind motorists not to participate in illegal road racing activities and not to drive after consuming alcohol. Offenders convicted of illegal road racing will be liable to a fine, imprisonment and disqualification of their driving licences.
