Man charged with attempted wounding

     Police today (November 11) holding charged a 32-year-old foreign man with one count of attempted wounding and the case will be heard in Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts in his absence tomorrow (November 12).

     The man was arrested yesterday (November 10) after he, holding a beef knife and two fruit knives, was hurting himself and attempted to attack the police officers, outside a building in Caribbean Coast, Lantau District.

      After giving several verbal warnings to the man but in vain, a police sergeant fired one shot at the man. Sustaining a gunshot wound to his left inner thigh and a cut wound on his right thigh, the man was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     Active investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories South are under way.
