Liquor Licensing Board members visit licensed liquor premises (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Liquor Licensing Board:

     Members of the Liquor Licensing Board, led by Board Chairman Mr Yau How-boa, visited a number of premises with liquor licences in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central early this morning (November 11) aimed at enhancing understanding of the operation of different types of premises with liquor licences and enforcement actions by the Police.

     During the visit, members were briefed by the Police on various issues related to the regulation of premises with liquor licences, including crowd control, traffic flow, law and order, fire safety, and noise problems.

     Representatives from the Fire Services Department, the Buildings Department and the Environmental Protection Department also joined the
visit.

     From January to October this year, the Board issued 743 new licences and renewed 5 061 liquor and club liquor licences.

     Taking part in the visit were Chairman of the Board, Mr Yau How-boa; Vice-chairman of the Board, Mr Kong Wai-yeung; and Board members Ms Fan Chui-wah, Mr Ip Ngo-tung, Mr Ko Chun-wa, Ms Lam Po-ling, Mr Shum Hon-wo, Mr Wong Kit-lung, Dr Wong Kong-tin, and Mr Young Siu-chuen.

     They were joined by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man; the Under Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan; the Deputy Secretary for Food and Health (Food), Mr Christopher Wong; the Deputy Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (Environmental Hygiene), Ms Vivian Sum; and the Assistant Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (Operations), Mr Lau Che-wong.
