Police will implement special traffic arrangements tomorrow (November 10) to facilitate the holding of a public procession which will depart from Victoria Park for Chater Garden.
The following arrangements will be implemented from 2.30pm until the crowd has dispersed:
(A) Road closure
(1) The U-turn slip road between southbound and northbound Gloucester Road;
(2) Sugar Street;
(3) Jardineˇ¦s Bazaar;
(4) Tang Lung Street; and
(5) Canal Road East between Hennessy Road and Russell Street.
(B) Traffic diversion
(1) Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road will be prohibited from turning right to northbound Gloucester Road;
(2) Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street will be prohibited from turning left to Sugar Street;
(3) Traffic along northbound Pennington Street will be prohibited from turning left to Jardineˇ¦s Bazaar;
(4) Traffic along westbound Russell Street will be diverted to turn left to southbound Canal Road East; and
(5) Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road will be prohibited from turning left to Canal Road East.
The following arrangements will be implemented from 3pm until the crowd has dispersed:
(A) Road closure
(1) Southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park Road flyover and Causeway Road will be intermittently closed;
(2) Irving Street (except vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
(3) Westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
(4) Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road;
(5) Kai Chiu Road;
(6) Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
(7) Westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road;
(8) Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
(9) Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road;
(10) Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
(11) Westbound Hennessy Road west of Lee Garden Road;
(12) The slip road leading from eastbound Johnston Road to westbound Hennessy Road; and
(13) Westbound Queensway will be intermittently closed.
(B) Traffic diversion
(1) If necessary, traffic along southbound Victoria Park Road flyover will be diverted to turn right to westbound Gloucester Road service road;
(2) If necessary, traffic along southbound Gloucester Road heading for Causeway Road will be diverted to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover;
(3) Traffic along eastbound Great George Street will be diverted to turn left to northbound Gloucester Road (except vehicles heading for southbound Tai Hang Road flyover);
(4) Traffic along westbound Causeway Road will be prohibited from turning right to westbound Irving Street (except vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel) and must turn left to westbound Leighton Road;
(5) Traffic along westbound Irving Street will be diverted to turn right to northbound Pennington Street;
(6) Traffic along northbound Pennington Street will be diverted to turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
(7) Traffic along northbound Yun Ping Road will be diverted to turn left to Pak Sha Road or Lan Fong Road;
(8) Traffic along northbound Canal Road West near Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
(9) Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
(10) Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be prohibited from turning left to northbound Bowrington Road;
(11) Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road will be diverted to turn right to eastbound Sharp Street West;
(12) Traffic along eastbound Wan Chai Road will be diverted to turn right to southbound Morrison Hill Road;
(13) Traffic along southbound Stewart Road will be prohibited from turning right to westbound Hennessy Road;
(14) Traffic along southbound Fleming Road will be prohibited from turning right to westbound Hennessy Road;
(15) Traffic along northbound Fleming Road will be prohibited from turning left to westbound Hennessy Road;
(16) Traffic along southbound Fenwick Street will be prohibited from turning right to westbound Hennessy Road; and
(17) Traffic along northbound Justice Drive will be prohibited from turning left to westbound Queensway.
The public light bus stand at Sugar Street and green minibus stand at Tang Lung Street will be suspended from 2.30pm.
All bus stops along southbound Gloucester Road, Irving Street, westbound Yee Wo Street, westbound Hennessy Road, and Queenˇ¦s Road Central between Garden Road and Pedder Street will be suspended from 2.45pm.
If necessary, all carparks along westbound Hennessy Road may be closed at short notice. Vehicles may not be permitted to leave or access carparks along the procession routes during the road closure period.
Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above might be towed away without prior notice.
Actual implementation of special traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to drive with care and patience and follow the instruction of the Police at scene.
