Parade to celebrate 15th anniversary of establishment of HKSAR and 63rd anniversary of founding of PRC in Kwai Tsing District

The following is issued on behalf of the Kwai Tsing District Council:

     The showcase event of the year in Kwai Tsing - the Celebration Parade for the 15th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the 63rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China - will be held this Sunday (November 11). More than 10 teams will set off from Tsing Yi Northeast Park at 4pm and parade along Tam Kon Shan Road, Tsing King Road and Tsing Yi Promenade to the Tsing Yi Sports Ground. The parade teams will also perform at Tsing Yi Promenade (outside Maritime Square) and the Tsing Yi Sports Ground.

     A wide variety of performances will be presented, including a float parade, traditional Chinese dragon dance and folk dances, a unicorn and pixiu dance, modern dance, drum dance, rope skipping, a cricket demonstration and marching band. In addition, there will be a march by some 1,000 kindergarten pupils and performances by renowned singers.

     For the first time a 60 square meters water curtain display will be set up at the sports ground to showcase developments of the Kwai Tsing District at about 7pm, followed by a fireworks display. Residents are sure to enjoy a great evening with these programmes.

     The event is jointly organised by the Kwai Tsing District Council and the Federation of Industries and Commerce in Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi Limited, co-organised by the Kwai Tsing District Office, and sponsored by district personalities and organisations.
