KSA fever patient tests negative for Novel Coronavirus
******************************************************

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health said today (November 7) that tests in the fever case involving a 59-year-old man with a travel history in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) proved negative for Novel Coronavirus associated with Severe Respiratory Disease.

A CHP spokesman noted that the Centre conducted an investigation into the case immediately on receipt of notification from Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) today. The patient presented with fever, coughing and shortness of breath yesterday (November 6) and was subsequently admitted to the isolation ward early this morning.

A nasopharyngeal aspirate and throat swab taken from the patient at PMH both tested negative for Novel Coronavirus associated with Severe Respiratory Disease.

The spokesman advised travellers returning from novel coronavirus-affected countries with respiratory symptoms to wear a facial mask, seek medical attention and reveal their travel history to the doctor.
