The Government announced today (November 2) the appointment of Mrs Doris Wong Wong Yu-sum as a Member of the Review Committee on Trust Fund for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) for a term of two years with effect from November 8.
Mrs Doris Wong Wong Yu-sum is the Principal Social Services Secretary (Elderly and Rehabilitation Services) of Po Leung Kuk and a member of the Elderly Commission.
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the appointment and also thanked the out-going member, Mr Timothy Ma Kam-wah, for his contribution during his tenure.
The Review Committee was set up in 2003 to consider applications for review of the decisions made by the Committee on Trust Fund for SARS. Ex-gratia financial assistance to recovered and suspected SARS patients is subject to medical proof and financial need assessment.
