About 3,000 Hawker Control Officers and Foremen of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) will present a fresh look to the public starting from November 5 with a new winter uniform.
"The new uniform items will include a multi-purpose jacket and a baseball cap. Senior Foremen and Foremen will put on white shirts," an FEHD spokesman said.
"The multi-purpose jacket and baseball cap are made of soft, lightweight, waterproof and windproof materials. They will serve to enhance the occupational safety of staff of the two grades and better meet their operational needs," he said.
"The new multi-purpose jacket will replace three current uniform items, namely the winter jacket, winter overcoat and raincoat. The new baseball cap can be worn in all seasons, and is more suitable for outdoor operations," the spokesman added.
The colour of the shirts of all Foreman grade staff will be standardised. As with Senior Overseer and Overseer, Senior Foremen and Foremen will put on white shirts instead of the current blue ones.
In designing the new uniforms, the views of staff representatives were taken into consideration, the spokesman said.
