12 building plans approved in September

     The Buildings Department approved 12 building plans in September, with three on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, three are for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four are for commercial developments, two are for factory and industrial developments and three are for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 25 building projects that when completed will provide 228,694 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 2,467 units, and 246,533 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 23 occupation permits, with seven on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 13 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 275,128 sq m, involving 2,851 units, and 42,704 sq m for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in September totalled about $4.83 billion.

     In addition, 12 demolition consents involving 13 building structures were issued.

     The department received 3,430 reports about unauthorised building works in September, and issued 1,525 removal orders on unauthorised works.
