The Hospital Authority (HA) today (October 31) announced the appointment of Ms Jane Liu Wai-han as Chief Manager (Nursing) with effect from January 1, 2013, upon the retirement of Ms Sylvia Fung Yuk-kuen.
Ms Liu has worked in the health care system for over 30 years and started her nursing career at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. While she served in acute and convalescent hospitals, her main specialty was in surgery. She was promoted from Ward Manager to Department Operations Manager of the Department of Surgery in Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) in 2000 and was appointed as Cluster General Manager (Nursing) of New Territories East Cluster in 2008.
Over the years, Ms Liu was instrumental in the establishment of the Paediatric Liver Transplantation Unit, the enhancement of cluster nursing governance and the implementation of One-Nurse-One-Plan and other career development programmes for nurses. In the cluster management arena, she supports the Cluster Chief Executive to bridge the hospitals with important stakeholders such as Hospital Governing Committees, District Councils and other community partners.
As nurse leader in the cluster, Ms Liu contributes significantly in the PWH's redevelopment project. She is also responsible for a number of Hospital Authority Head Office (HAHO) initiatives such as the Staff Engagement Programme and Call Payment Offer for Non-doctors, apart from being the co-chairman and member of various nursing committees in HAHO.
The HA Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin, congratulates Ms Liu on her appointment and wishes her every success in taking up the new role. Dr Leung would also like to express his sincere gratitude to Ms Fung for the contributions in the past years and wish her a happy retirement.
