The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, arrived in Beijing today (October 29) to start his visit programme. Joining Mr Tsang on the visit are the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, and the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Mr Norman Chan.
Shortly after their arrival, Mr Tsang met with the Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Mr Guo Shuqing, and the Chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, Mr Shang Fulin, separately. Mr Tsang expressed his appreciation to both the China Securities Regulatory Commission and the China Banking Regulatory Commission for their continued support in Hong Kong's development as an offshore Renminbi business centre. They also exchanged views on the work agenda for the coming year.
Tomorrow morning, Mr Tsang will visit the Ministry of Commerce and then head for Tianjin for a day trip.
