Appointment to MPF Schemes Advisory Committee

     The Government announced today (October 26) that the Chief Executive has appointed Mr Wong Ting-kwong as Chairperson of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) for a term of two years starting from November 1, 2012.

     Welcoming the appointment, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, said, "Mr Wong was Chairperson of the Mandatory Provident Fund Industry Schemes Committee for the past six years and a member of the Management Board of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) between 2005 and 2011, and has a wealth of experience and expertise in the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System.

    "We believe that the Advisory Committee, under his leadership, will offer valuable advice to the MPFA and contribute to the continued improvement of the MPF System," said Professor Chan.

     Professor Chan also paid tribute to the former Advisory Committee Chairman, Mr David Sun Tak-kei, who resigned in late June, for his valuable contribution.

     The Advisory Committee is a statutory body established under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance which advises the MPFA with respect to the operation of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance as well as the effectiveness and efficiency of the MPFA.
