The Highways Department today (October 26) invited tenders for "Provision of Barrier-free Access Facilities for Highway Structures – Phase 3 Contract 1" (Contract No. HY/2012/11).
The works are expected to commence in February 2013 and will take about 42 months to complete. The works will mainly comprise:
* construction of 17 lifts and three ramps for seven existing footbridges and seven existing subways in 12 locations in Wan Chai District, Eastern District, Southern District, Yau Tsim Mong District and Sham Shui Po District;
* associated with the works above, civil works, geotechnical works, electrical and mechanical works, site investigation works, modification works for existing structures, roadworks and landscaping works, etc; and
* in addition to the site investigation works described above, site investigation works for other projects for "Provision of Barrier-free Access Facilities for Highway Structures" and a road improvement project in West Kowloon as specified in the Contract.
Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box located on the Ground Floor, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong. Submission of tenders will be closed at noon on December 7, 2012 (Friday).
The Major Works Project Management Office of the Highways Department has appointed Parsons Brinckerhoff (Asia) Ltd to design and supervise the construction works. Interested contractors can obtain the tender forms and other particulars from the office of Parsons Brinckerhoff (Asia) Ltd at 7/F, One Kowloon, 1 Wang Yuen Street, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong.
