The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in September showed a drop of 1,116 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent, when compared to that in August, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (October 24).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of September stood at 271,922 (see attached table), with a total of 422,766 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low earnings and single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.6 per cent and 1.4 per cent to 10,893 and 31,690 cases respectively. Unemployment cases also dropped by 0.8 per cent to 24,880 cases.
Permanent disability, old age and ill health cases all registered a decrease of 0.1 per cent to 18,385, 153,612 and 25,378 cases respectively.
