Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tseung Kwan O this morning (October 20) in which an 80-year-old man was killed.
About 5.20am, a motorcycle driven by a 28-year-old man was travelling upslope along Po Lam Road North towards Sau Mau Ping. When approaching near Tsui Lam Road, it reportedly knocked down the 80-year-old man who was crossing the road.
Sustaining multiple injuries, the man was rushed to Tseung Kwan O Hospital in unconscious state and was later certified dead at 7.15am. The motorcyclist was also injured and sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital in conscious state, and will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital later.
The motorcyclist was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on police bail pending investigations and shall report back in late October.
The case will be handed over to the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East.
