The Home Affairs Bureau announced today (October 20) the appointments to three Museum Advisory Panels, namely the Art Museum Advisory Panel (AMAP), the History Museum Advisory Panel (HMAP) and the Science Museum Advisory Panel (SMAP), and the re-appointment of Mr Vincent Lo Wing-sang as the Chairman of the AMAP, Dr Philip Wu Po-him as the Chairman of the HMAP and Professor Roland Chin Tai-hong as the Chairman of the SMAP.
All the appointments are for a two-year term from October 20, 2012, to October 19, 2014.
The three Museum Advisory Panels, established on October 20, 2010, comprise members of different backgrounds with a wealth of professional expertise and experience relevant to the work of the museums, including professionals, academics, museum experts, artists, collectors, art promoters, entrepreneurs, marketing and public relations experts, and community leaders. The panels advise the Leisure and Cultural Services Department on the positioning, strategies for development, promotion and management of the respective public museum streams.
A spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau thanked the panels for their contributions in the past two years, including Dr Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, the outgoing SMAP member, and Mr Douglas Young Chi-chiu, the outgoing AMAP member, and looked forward to the new panels' valuable advice on the development of the public museums.
