Hong Kong Underwater Photo and Video Competition 2012 concludes successfully (with photos)
******************************************************

An award presentation ceremony was held today (October 20) to conclude the Hong Kong Underwater Photo and Video Competition 2012.

Jointly organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) and the Hong Kong Underwater Association, the competition sought to promote the beauty of marine life and habitats in Hong Kong waters and enhance public awareness of conserving the marine environment.

The competition comprised two photo categories, the "Macro & Close-up Category" and "Standard & Wide Angle Category" as well as a video category. All entries were required to feature marine ecology, habitats or marine life in Hong Kong waters and had to be taken during the period from October 1, 2011 to September 17, 2012.

A workshop was held in June for participants to learn more about underwater photography and videography techniques.

The competition was well received, with a total of 270 entries submitted. A champion, first runner-up, second runner-up and 10 outstanding awards were selected for each category. Each winner was awarded a trophy or a certificate.

The list of the winners and their winning entries can be viewed on the AFCD's website at: www.afcd.gov.hk/english/conservation/con_mar/con_mar_cor/con_mar_cor.html
