Stanley Prison inmate found dead

An inmate of Stanley Prison (SP) was found hanging from a bed sheet inside his cell at about 5.30am today (October 16).
First aid was immediately given at the scene. The 39-year-old inmate was then taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where he was certified dead at 7.35am.
The Correctional Services Department has reported the matter to the Police and is contacting his family. An inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court in due course.
The inmate was convicted of burglary and sentenced to imprisonment for 58 months. He was admitted to SP in September last year.
