Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

     Police officers issued a total of 763 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 43 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island.

     The operation concluded at 7pm today (October 15) and a total of 298 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 545 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 218 for other traffic offences.  

     Statistics revealed that a total of 2,247 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to September this year, of which 741 pedestrians were involved. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 51 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
