Greater Pearl River Delta Historical Buildings Photography Competition invites applicants
***********************************************************

Jointly organised by the Department of Culture Guangdong Province, the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Greater Pearl River Delta Historical Buildings Photography Competition was launched today (October 15). Applicants can enter their photographs via the Greater Pearl River Delta (GPRD) Cultural Information Website (www.prdculture.org) on or before November 30.

The competition aims to promote the GPRD Cultural Information Website and its unique features. With a matching interface and platform, the website aims to spread the message of cultural heritage conservation as well as promote the art of photography and cultural tourism in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. It also provides a platform for cultural exchange among photography enthusiasts from the three places.

Outstanding entries will be displayed on the GPRD Cultural Information Website and the winning entries will also be displayed at roving exhibitions to be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Photography enthusiasts who are interested in historical buildings in the three places are invited to enter the competition as individuals. Each applicant may submit a maximum of three photos featuring historical buildings in any of the three places. The location of the historical building in the photograph will determine which of the three places the entry falls into. Entrants can upload the completed application forms together with their photos to the designated website (www.prdculture.org/zt/photography/WorksSubmit.php)(Chinese Only) before midnight on November 30.

Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will set up their own adjudicating panels in the preliminary competition to select the best 50 local entries. A total of 150 entries will be chosen for the final selection. The adjudicators of each place will then pick one first, three second and six third prize winners from the 50 shortlisted local entries.

The shortlisted entries will be announced and displayed on the GPRD Cultural Information Website in early January 2013. Members of the public can cast their vote for the first prize winner via the website. Entries with the highest number of votes in each place will be awarded as the Most Popular Entry. Those who vote for the first prize entry will have a chance of winning the Netizen Voting Prize of RMB1,000.

The cash awards for the first, second and third prizes winners are $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 respectively, and the cash award for Most Popular Entry is $1,000 (all cash awards are made in local currency). Each winner will also be awarded a merit certificate. The competition results will be announced on the GPRD Cultural Information Website by late February 2013 and a prize presentation ceremony will be held during the 14th Greater Pearl River Delta Cultural Co-operation Meeting.
