The Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan, presented prizes to the winners from 18 districts in the National Day Bunting Design Competition in Celebration of the 63rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China at a ceremony at Leighton Hill Community Hall today (October 14).

These winners beat more than 1,500 contestants with their creativity and design talents. Eighteen champion designs were displayed at the ceremony venue today to allow participants to get a full view of the winning entry of each district.

From June to August this year, the 18 District Offices organised the competition to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and to enhance the public's sense of national identity, community involvement and community building. The champion design from each district was turned into lamppost buntings and displayed in the main streets of the district from mid-September.

Addressing the ceremony, Mrs Tan said that the National Day Bunting Design Competition has been well received by the public since its launch. This year's competition was also met with an enthusiastic response, with over 1,500 contestants from 18 districts creating a lot of outstanding designs.

A champion, first runner-up, second runner-up and three merit prizes were selected for each district in the National Day Bunting Design Competition.
