Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in North Point this afternoon (October 9) in which a woman aged about 60 to 70 died.
At about 4.20pm, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 31-year-old man was travelling along eastbound Electric Road. When reaching near the junction with Merlin Street, it reportedly knocked down the woman who was crossing the road.
The woman sustained serious injuries to her head and abdomen and was later certified dead at scene.
The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained pending further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are underway.
