Hongkong Post announces "Love Post Day"
***************************************

Hongkong Post announced today (October 4) that it will stage a "Love Post Day" on October 9 (Tuesday) in support of World Post Day, which is celebrated annually on October 9 to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union. For the ninth consecutive year, Hongkong Post is supporting World Post Day by sponsoring every citizen in Hong Kong to send a letter to a local recipient without charge to convey their caring sentiments.

"In this era of electronic communication, the traditional art of letter-writing has not lost its charms. A letter or postcard received through the post warms the heart in ways that a virtual e-message or SMS could never hope to emulate," the Postmaster General, Mrs Jessie Ting, said.

On October 9, those wishing to participate in "Love Post Day" may drop their letters in special collection boxes placed in all post offices (except for the two mobile post offices). The letters will be delivered on the following day.

Further information about "Love Post Day" can be obtained at any post office, from the Hongkong Post website www.hongkongpost.hk, or from the Hongkong Post hotline at 2921 2222.
