Vessel collision incident near Lamma Island (4)

     As at 7.30pm today (October 3), a total of 38 persons died in the vessel collision incident. Thirty of them were certified dead at scene while eight others were certified dead upon arrival to hospitals. The authority has sought the views of the families of the deceased and with their consent given, information of 11 deceased is appended.

     A total of 101 people were sent to five hospitals during the incident, two of them are in critical condition or have sustained serious injuries while 76 have been discharged.

     Two vessels, "Sea Smooth" and Hong Kong Electric's  "Lamma IV", collided off Yung Shu Wan Pier of Lamma Island on Monday (October 1) night. Those who suspected that their relatives are missing in the incident can call the Police enquiry hotline 1878 999. The Hospital Authority has set up help desks at the five hospitals. The Home Affairs Department is coordinating the assistance services for families of the deceased and the injured while the Social Welfare Department is providing counselling and support services to families of the deceased.
