After resounding success in Berlin, Dusseldorf and Hamburg, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO Berlin) continues to embark on its journey to stage Hong Kong Film Festivals to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). From October 1 to 4, HKETO Berlin is hosting the Hong Kong In Motion Film Festival 2012 in Vienna in co-operation with Film Casino Vienna. "A Simple Life", the awarding winning film directed by Ann Hui, was again selected as the opening film.

In his speech at the opening reception, the Director of HKETO Berlin, Mr Ivan Lee, emphasised how Hong Kong's film industry has diversified in recent years, "To showcase our latest achievements, we are presenting a line-up of five contemporary Hong Kong films in the Hong Kong In Motion film festival here in Vienna. Through these films, you could also take a visual journey through the different epochs of Chinese culture - from ancient to modern times."

The creative industry is one of Hong Kong's growth industries with the film industry being one of the driving forces. In recent years, Hong Kong's film industry has broadened its horizons through closer co-operation with Mainland China, using the platform of the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA). Mr Lee encouraged Austrian creative industry companies to utilise this platform, "CEPA has vastly expanded our access to Mainland China's movie market. Since CEPA was launched in 2003, the number of Hong Kong-Mainland co-productions has grown from about 10 titles a year to the current number of around 30. They have also enjoyed tremendous box office success."

Over 100 guests attended the reception and the screening of "A Simple Life" at Film Casino Vienna, among them senior federal and city government officials and the Chinese Ambassador to Austria. Leading figures from the cultural and business sector also graced the occasion. The Hong Kong In Motion Film Festival in Vienna continues until October 4 and presents a wide range of productions from multi-million dollar blockbusters such as "The Great Magician" to historical-themed drama such as "White Vengeance".

On October 22, HKETO Berlin will host another cultural signature event in the city of Salzburg. Chefs from the Chinese Cuisine Training
Institute in Hong Kong will perform at a Chinese cuisine cooking demonstration and tasting event. The dishes will be paired with Austrian wines.
