Seven men arrested over vessel collision off Lamma Island

     Police today (October 2) arrested seven men aged between 50 and 63 in suspected connection with the vessel collision incident occurred off Lamma Island last night (October 1).

     About 8.25pm last night, Police received reports that a vessel collision occurred off Yung Shue Wan. Initial investigations revealed that two passenger vessels were involved and one of them sank after the incident.

     Police today arrested the 56-year-old male captain and two male crew members of the sunken vessel, and the 54-year-old captain and three male crew members of another vessel for endangering the safety of others at sea. Six of the arrestees are released on bail pending further enquiries and are required to report back in mid-October. The 54-year-old captain will also be released on bail later.

     Investigations by Regional Crime Unit of Marine Region are proceeding.
