New uniforms for AFCD enforcement officers (with photos)
********************************************************

About 360 law enforcement officers of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) will present a fresh look to the public from tomorrow (October 1) with their new uniforms.

"The new uniforms feature an epaulette with markings for rank and a combination of stripes," an AFCD spokesman said.

"The newly designed epaulette helps to establish a clear and strong identity for the department and will assist our staff in discharging their law enforcement duties. Officers wearing the new uniforms include field assistants, nature wardens, fisheries supervisors, marine parks supervisors, marine parks wardens, field officers, country park rangers and country park wardens," he said.

The different combinations of stripes on the new epaulette will also assist the public in identifying officers' ranks.

The colour of the shirts and trousers of all AFCD enforcement staff will be standardised, with cream-white shirts and charcoal-blue trousers. Staff will also wear a cap embroidered with the AFCD logo for easy identification.

"The aim of introducing a new uniform is to enhance the occupational safety of the staff and to better meet their operational needs," the spokesman added.

This is the first major uniform review undertaken by the AFCD. In designing the new uniforms the views of staff representatives were taken into consideration.
