******************************************************

The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved four grants from the Disaster Relief Fund totalling $11.717 million to four relief agencies to undertake relief projects for earthquake victims in the Mainland provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou.

Announcing the grants today (September 28), a government spokesman said that the Committee hoped the four grants - one of $1.247 million to Save the Children Hong Kong; one of $5.137 million to the Amity Foundation, Hong Kong; one of $4.2 million to the Salvation Army and one of $1.133 million to the Association of Chinese Evangelical Ministry Limited, would help provide relief to earthquake victims in the two provinces.

"To ensure that the money will be used for the designated purposes, the four relief agencies have been asked to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts on the use of the grants after the relief projects have been completed," the spokesman said.
