Appointments to Occupational Retirement Schemes Appeal Board

     The Government today (September 27) announced that the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, has appointed the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman and three new members, and re-appointed two incumbent members, to the Occupational Retirement Schemes Appeal Board (ORSAB) under the Occupational Retirement Schemes Ordinance (ORSO):

     They are appointed/re-appointed for two years from October 1, 2012.

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, said he was delighted that Mr Paul Shieh Wing-tai, Ms Cynthia Chung Wing-suet, the three new members and the two incumbent members have accepted the appointments and re-appointments. "Mr Shieh is a senior counsel and has been the Deputy Chairman of the ORSAB since 2010. We believe that Mr Shieh, Ms Chung and the newly appointed as well as re-appointed members will continue upholding the impartiality of ORSAB," he said.

     Professor Chan also paid tribute to the outgoing Chairman and members of ORSAB. "The term of service of the Chairman of ORSAB, Mr Paul Tan Chuen-yan, and two members, Mr Adrian Wong Koon-man and Mr Philip Tsai Wing-chung, will expire on September 30. We are grateful for their contribution to the work of the Appeal Board."

     The ORSAB was established to hear appeals against decisions by the Registrar of Occupational Retirement Schemes as specified in ORSO.

     The appointments/re-appointments will be published in the Government Gazette tomorrow (September 28).
