CS visits Yuen Long (with photos)
*********************************

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, visited Yuen Long this morning (September 26) to exchange views with Yuen Long District Councillors. She also inspected the land use development of Tung Tau Industrial Area and a site for the Home Ownership Scheme in the vicinity.

Mrs Lam started the visit by meeting with some 30 Yuen Long District Councillors to listen to their views. The District Councillors who attended the meeting conveyed residents' concern over issues including the proposed district open bazaar in Tin Shui Wai, the need for community facilities (such as markets, hospitals and swimming pools), local employment opportunities and external transport links with other districts.

Mrs Lam was glad to learn of the Yuen Long District Councillors' support for the district open bazaar in Tin Shui Wai on Tin Sau Road, and assured them that the District Officer (Yuen Long) will take heed of their views on operation details for the open bazaar. She expressed her wish that the bazaar could start operation before the coming Lunar New Year.

The meeting was followed by a tour of the latest development in the district, with officers from the Planning Department and the Housing Department providing updates on the land uses of Tung Tau Industrial Area and the new site for the Home Ownership Scheme in the vicinity.

Accompanied by the Acting District Officer (Yuen Long), Mr George Tsoi, Mrs Lam went to a time-honoured cake shop in the district and chatted with the shop owners to learn about sales of mooncakes with the advent of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
