CHP continues to monitor dengue fever situation in Macau
********************************************************

     The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health has noted that the health authority of Macau has identified one more locally acquired case of dengue fever.

     A CHP spokesman said that according to the information from the health authority of Macau, as the infected person in the latest case of dengue fever in Macau did not have local movement in the Areia Preta and Portas do Cerco areas before the onset of symptoms, the possibility of further transmission of dengue fever from the areas to other parts of Macau cannot be ruled out.

     "We are maintaining close liaison with the health authority of Macau to monitor the latest situation," the spokesman said.

     In Hong Kong, there have been 42 confirmed cases of dengue fever reported to the CHP so far in 2012, and they were all imported.

     A spokesman for the CHP urged travellers to take the following preventive measures against dengue fever:

* Wear long-sleeved tops and trousers;
* Use insect repellent on exposed parts of the body; and
* Use mosquito screens or nets in rooms which are not air-conditioned.

     Anyone feeling unwell after returning from a trip should seek medical advice as soon as possible and provide travel details to their doctor.
