Fatal traffic accident in Kwun Tong

     Police today (September 22) are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwun Tong in which a 79-year-old woman was killed.

     At about 9.10am, a private car was travelling along Ping Tin Road. When reaching near Ping Chun House of Ping Tin Estate, it reportedly knocked down the 79-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

     The pedestrian sustained serious head and abdomen injuries and was rushed to the United Christian Hospital where she was later certified dead at 4.01pm.

     A 26-year-old woman claimed to the police that she was driving in the accident. The 26-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were arrested for perverting the course of justice at scene after police¡¦s investigation.

     Furthermore, the 29-year-old man was also arrested for dangerous driving causing death, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance and driving while disqualified. Both arrested persons will be detained overnight pending for further enquiry.

     The case will be handover to the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East for further investigation.
