Fatal traffic accident in Kwun Tong

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Kwun Tong tonight (September 18) in which a 45-year-old man died.

     At about 7.35pm, a public light bus driven by a 56-year-old man was travelling along Hip Wo Street towards Kwun Tong. When approaching near 133 Hip Wo Street, it reportedly hit the 45-year-old man who was crossing the road. The pedestrian fell onto the opposite carriageway and was hit by a light goods vehicle driven by a 44-year-old man.

     After the impact, the man was trapped under the light goods vehicle and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious head injuries, he was certified dead at scene.

     The public light bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East are underway.

     Police urged anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 2305 7500.
