A remand inmate attacked an officer of the Correctional Services Department causing injury to him at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre this afternoon (September 18).
The male inmate, aged 52, suddenly turned emotional and attacked one of the officers during a security check upon his admission. The officer eventually subdued the man with the help of another colleague.
The officer and the inmate sustained minor injuries during the incident and were given medical treatment at the centre hospital.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The inmate was admitted to the reception centre today for the offence of possession of dangerous drugs.
