The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (September 18) continued his visit to Ningbo and Shanghai. Mr So attended the opening of the 2012 Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum in Ningbo this morning. Afterwards, he left for Shanghai to meet with Hong Kong businessmen and professionals operating businesses and working there.

In the morning, Mr So attended and addressed the opening of the 2012 Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum jointly organised by the Ningbo Municipal People's Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to promote trade and economic co-operation between the two cities.

Speaking at the Forum, Mr So said the Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum is a major annual event jointly organised by Ningbo and Hong Kong, and it fully demonstrates that the two places have developed a solid foundation of co-operation in various areas including commerce and trade, ports and maritime, education, medical services and cultural industries.

He said he believes that Hong Kong's service industries, with their unique advantages, can help promote the development of Ningbo's service industries, thus creating a win-win situation. He hopes Ningbo enterprises can step up exchanges and collaboration with Hong Kong's service industries, and make frequent use of Hong Kong's platform for "going out" to expand globally.

Mr So is looking forward to the further deepening of co-operation and exchanges between Hong Kong and Ningbo, and the joint growth of both cities on the basis of their close relationship built over the years.

After attending the Forum, Mr So departed for Shanghai to meet with Hong Kong businessmen and professionals from trade associations and other Hong Kong-related organisations in Shanghai to listen to their views on operating businesses and working in the Mainland.

Mr So will visit Shanghai's creative cluster Bridge 8, the International Imported Goods Exhibition & Trading Center in ShanghaiMart and the Hongqiao Central Business District tomorrow. He will then continue his Mainland trip with visits to Tianjin and Beijing before returning to Hong Kong on September 21.
