The Secretary for Home Affairs (SHA), Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (September 17) presented commendation certificates and award pins to 55 persons for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of sports and recreation, arts and culture, and community greening.

Speaking at the SHA's Commendation Scheme Presentation Ceremony 2012 held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre this afternoon, Mr Tsang praised the awardees for their endeavours and selfless contribution over the past years, saying that their efforts were highly commendable.

He noted that with their wealth of knowledge and experience, the awardees had not only achieved great success in their respective professions, but also dedicated themselves to nurturing and supporting young talents, making remarkable contributions to the society.

Mr Tsang believed that their enthusiastic participation could encourage more people to follow suit in serving the community. He also hoped that the awardees would join with the Government to build a better future for Hong Kong.

The SHA's Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, aims to recognise individuals who make outstanding contributions to the development of sports, culture and arts, community building and community service.
