SCED to attend 2012 China Processing Trade Products Fair in Dongguan

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will leave for Dongguan tomorrow (September 16) to attend the opening ceremony of the 2012 China Processing Trade Products Fair (CPTPF). He will deliver a speech entitled "HKSAR Government's support to upgrading and restructuring of Hong Kong enterprises engaging in processing trade on the Mainland" at the "Summit on the Development of Processing Trade".

     The CPTPF aims to create a platform for sales of processing trade products, encourage processing trade enterprises to enter the Mainland market, implement the national strategy for enhancing domestic demand, promote upgrading and restructuring of processing trade, and expedite change in the economic development paradigm.

     The first CPTPF is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the General Administration of Customs, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the State Intellectual Property Office, and the People's Government of Guangdong Province. The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau is one of the supporting units.

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong on the same day.
