The Government today (September 14) announced that the Chief Executive had appointed Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming as Chairman of the Council of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) with effect from October 1 this year to December 31, 2014.
The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng, welcomed Mr Hu's appointment.
"Mr Hu is devoted to public service and has rendered significant contributions to the higher education sector and the wider community. With years of dedicated service on the CityU Council, he has brought a wealth of expertise to CityU in support of the university's development. I am confident that CityU will scale new heights under Mr Hu's leadership," Mr Ng said.
Mr Ng also paid tribute to Mr David Sun Tak-kei, the former Chairman of the CityU Council, for his contribution to the development of CityU during his chairmanship.
