Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Chai Wan today (September 11) in which a 53-year-old woman died.

     At about 9.25am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 42-year-old man was travelling along eastbound Kornhill Road. When approaching the junction with Hong On Street, it reportedly hit the 53-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious head and leg injuries, she was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 12.11pm.
     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is still being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are underway.

     Police urged anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 3661 1620 or 3106 8848.
