HK Duo to give two-piano concert in October
*******************************************

Comprising young pianists Hui Ling and Julie Kuok, the HK Duo (H for Hui and K for Kuok) will give a two-piano concert in October.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the French composer Claude Debussy, the duo will perform Debussy's "Printemps", originally a piece for orchestra and women's chorus. Kuok will also pay tribute to the composer by performing her new work, "Image - the Reflection of Don Juan". The duo will also perform Mozart's "The Magic Flute" Overture, Liszt's "Reminiscences de Don Juan", Shostakovich's "Concertino" and Holst's "Mars, Venus, Mercury & Jupiter" (from "The Planets").

In 2000, the Beijing-born Hui Ling met Hong Kong-born Julie Kuok at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where they formed the HK Duo. The contrasting personalities add to the duo's exciting chemistry in music, including their own compositions and transcriptions. The duo have been Artists-in-Residence at RTHK Radio 4 and have collaborated with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. Their appearances abroad have included performances at the Waterford Arts Festival in Ireland, the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival and the Asia Grand Piano Concert held in Korea and Malaysia.

"Two-Piano Concert by HK Duo" is part of the Debussy Year celebration programme presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be held at 8pm on October 9 (Tuesday) at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall.
