Registration of Interests of LegCo Members

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     In response to media enquiries, a spokesperson for the Legislative Council (LegCo) Secretariat said today (September 7) that according to Rule 83 of the LegCo Rules of Procedure, every Member shall, not later than the first meeting of each term, furnish to the Clerk, in such form as may be approved by the President, particulars of his registrable interests; and every new Member shall, within 14 days from the date of his becoming a new Member to fill a vacant seat, furnish to the Clerk particulars of his registrable interests.

     The Rule also stipulates that every Member shall furnish to the Clerk particulars of any change in such registrable interests, within 14 days of any such change, and the Clerk shall cause all those particulars to be entered in a Register of Members' Interests and that register is available on the LegCo website and in the LegCo Library for public inspection, the spokesperson added.

     The spokesperson confirms that the LegCo Secretariat shall arrange for any information provided by a Member to be made available for public inspection as soon as it is received. It is the responsibility of the Members to ensure the information is true, accurate and complete.
