Theatre du Pif to perform bilingual play "A Doll's House" in October
************************************************************

Local arts group Theatre du Pif will perform Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's acclaimed play "A Doll's House" in October.

The story starts in an elegant home. Nora seems to live in a perfect world with beautiful children and her adoring husband. But hidden beneath the surface is a life of self-deception, lies and delusion, and when Nora is forced to face the truth she is shocked to discover how radically her life has to change.

Directed by Marjorie Chan from Canada, this new bilingual adaptation of lbsen's great play is set in Hong Kong and has a high-calibre international cast, including Jovanni Sy from Canada and Sean Curran, Bonni Chan, Victor Pang and Luna Shaw.

Theatre du Pif was formed in Scotland in 1992 by Bonni Chan and Sean Curran and devised productions that toured around the UK and Europe. In 1995, Theatre du Pif relocated to Hong Kong and became known for its cross-cultural heritage and productions performed in Cantonese, English or both. Using a workshop and devising process as well as collaborations with dramaturges and artists from other disciplines, the company orchestrates movement, text and visual images to create new productions acclaimed for their power and their poetry.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "A Doll's House" will be performed in Cantonese and English, with bilingual surtitles, at 8pm on October 19 and 20 (Friday and Saturday) and at 4pm on October 20 and 21 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Theatre, Sheung Wan Civic Centre.
