14 building plans approved in July

     The Buildings Department approved 14 building plans in July, with two on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, seven are for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four are for commercial developments, one is for factory and industrial developments and two are for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 20 building projects that when completed will provide 122,684 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 931 units, and 149,988 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 14 building projects.

     The department also issued seven occupation permits, with three on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and two in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 44,289 sq m, involving 144 units, and 19,568 sq m for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in July totalled about $1.33 billion.

     In addition, 15 demolition consents involving 15 building structures were issued.

     The department received 3,845 reports about unauthorised building works in July, and issued 1358 removal orders on unauthorised works.
