Regarding an earlier announcement on some patients of a clinical oncology ward confirmed with Noroviral infection, the spokesperson of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital made the following update today (August 27):
One more 78-year-old female patient in the ward has presented with gastroenteritis symptoms. Appropriate viral tests have been arranged and the results are pending. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition.
All admission to the ward concerned has been suspended. Restricted visiting and discharge from the ward are imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up. All other patients and staff members in the ward are under close surveillance.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
