Regarding the recent confirmation of a cluster of patients with Norovirus in a Palliative Care ward, the spokesperson for Haven of Hope Hospital made the following update today (August 25):
Three more female patients and five more male patients (aged from 58 to 83) in the ward had presented with diarrhea or vomiting. Viral tests had been arranged for the patients and all the test results were negative. The concerned patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
All admissions and discharge of the concerned ward have been suspended. Restricted visiting has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
