The delegation of the London Olympics' Mainland gold medallists attended a reception hosted by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government this afternoon (August 24). They met with people from various sectors of the community at the event.
Guests at the reception included HKSAR Government officials, representatives of the Central Government organisations in Hong Kong, and members of the sports sector and the community.
The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung; the President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Mr Liu Peng; and the President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Mr Timothy Fok, gave speeches at the reception.
Mr Leung warmly welcomed the delegation on behalf of the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong people, congratulating the Mainland gold medallists for their brilliant achievements at the London Olympic Games.
He said that their medal tally was testimony to the athletes' years of hard work. Members of the public will have a chance to appreciate the athletes' sports skills and share their honour and joy at the sports demonstrations and the Mainland Olympic Gold Medallists Extravaganza scheduled for tomorrow (August 25).
