Appointments to Mandatory Provident Fund Industry Schemes Committee

     The Government today (August 24) announced that the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, has appointed the Chairman and four new members, and re-appointed six incumbent members, of the Mandatory Provident Fund Industry Schemes Committee (ISC) under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance:

     They are appointed/re-appointed for two years from August 25, 2012.

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, said he was delighted that Ms Li, the four new members and the six incumbent members have accepted the appointments and re-appointments. "Ms Li Fung-ying has been a member of the Management Board of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority since 2007. She has a wealth of experience and expertise in mandatory provident funds affairs. We believe that Ms Li and the newly appointed as well as re-appointed members will bring in invaluable advice to the ISC," he added.

     Professor Chan also paid tribute to the outgoing Chairman and members of the ISC. "The term of service of the Chairman of the ISC, Mr Wong Ting-kwong, and four members, Mr Hiew Chin, Mr Thomas Ho On-sing, Mr Tsang Peng-sun and Mr Yuen Fuk-wo, expired today. We are grateful for their contribution to the work of the Committee."

     The ISC is responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of industry schemes and offering advice on ways to improve the administration and operation of the schemes in the interest of scheme members.

     The appointments/re-appointments were published in the Government Gazette today.
